An Independence Day Outfit Full of Memories

Happy July 4th, also known as Independence Day. With the pandemic, we're not gathering as we usually would, but we're still trying to celebrate!

Today, as I always do on July 4, I'm dressed in red, white and blue. Everything I'm wearing has a memory and a story, with the exception of my bottom piece, a pair of blue jeans, which will be exchanged for jean shorts later as we move outside in 90 degrees for our patio cookout!  We will have grilled chicken with BBQ sauce, corn on the cob and baked beans, with watermelon for dessert!  We will also zoom with our family this afternoon to share smiles and greetings.

This tee reminds me of the trip we took last summer to California to visit our son, who had an internship at JPL.  We enjoyed that trip so much, and I bought this tee in the gift shop. Wearing it today, I'm reminded of how proud I am of my son's accomplishments, and how much fun we had touring Huntington Gardens and the Santa Monica Pier!

My sister gave me the pretty sparkly star necklace.  She remembers every birthday and holiday with gifts and cards. She's one of my fashion icons, and takes great care of our mother, and wearing this necklace makes me think of her.

The earrings were given to me by my friend Vickie. We met in an online fashion club, and when we met in person, she gave me these lovely white studded earrings (a set of three pairs, in red, white and blue).  Wearing them, I remember the fun we had in that club, as well as how much fun it was to meet halfway between our homes in Kentucky and Tennessee.  Vickie has a wonderful jewelry collection, and always looks so stylish!

I hope you find a way to celebrate this holiday with outfit fun, good food, and connecting with family and friends through safe means.  Also remember how hard we fought for our freedom from tyrrany, how long the USA and our Constitution have lasted, and how precious these things are!

We all have to get dressed every day anyway, so we might as well have some fun!
